Garda Nova is inspired by the writings of Renaissance master calligrapher Francesco Cresci. It comes in three variants—No.1, No.2 and No.3—with the same proportion and construction, originally based on the traditional roman capital letters known as Capitalis Monumentalis.
Garda No.1 has a new revised version dating from 2023, It was renamed with its original name: GardaTitling, and includes with one additional weight among other improvements in the whole character set. Garda No1 interprets almost faithfully the original drawings of Cresci, with classic shapes and traditional inscriptional serifs. At the other end of the spectrum, Garda Nova No.3 is a low-contrast sans serif with a humanistic British feel. Garda Nova No.2 stands in-between. The use of this display, capital-only design has ranged from architectural lettering to refined stationery and packaging of luxury goods.
